The Greatest Sports Week Ever?

I think so.

Clearly, this does not apply if you aren't me, and don't follow the teams I do, but for me, its been fantastic.

Angels opened up the week by beating the Dodgers, clinching the season series.

Then Team USA gave me a great reason to wake up at 7am. I can honestly say that outside of Aaron Boone's Home Run in Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS, and Troy Glaus' double to give the Angels the lead in Game 6 of the 2002 World Series, that was the greatest sports moment of my life. I went from hating soccer to being the biggest futbal fan in America in the matter of seconds. I lost my glasses in my rush of excitement, and considered running around my apartment complex in my underwear.

Also on Wednesday, Phil Jackson announced his retirement, not really, but the way he said it, he wasn't coming back. I hate the Lakers, and nothing against Phil, but anything to make it so the Lakers don't find their way back to the Finals would be fine by me.

More Wednesday, I watched Tennis for the first time since High School, because two men were playing the longest game in the history of the sport. It was incredible to watch the back and fourth action. It always seemed like when one had a chance to take the upper hand and win the match, the other would respond and pick his game up to tie it again. Simply fantastic.

To finish off maybe the best sports day ever, the Angels beat the Dodgers, again, who lost the game by not knowing how to properly run bases (lol).

Yesterday, the Week got even better when Italy lost again, and was eliminated from the World Cup. Take THAT world!

Today, nothing has really happened yet. The Angels take the field against the Rockies any minute, and the teams who were supposed to win in the World Cup won.

However, tomorrow, the US takes on Ghana in their first Knockout Round game, and Sunday closes out the busy week with Mexico taking on Argentina. I can't wait for the US to make it out of the weekend, and for Mexico to not.

Hopefully the Angels can take 2-of-3 against the Rockies, because the Rangers get the lowly Astros again this weekend.

  1. I would just like to point out that I do not hate the Lakers. I do however hate the Lakers fans. They are the worst, most arrogant and petty and annoying fans ever.

And as a Yankees fan, I know arrogant and petty and annoying.
